Exam format
The MRCP(UK) Part 2 Written Examination consists of three papers, each of three hours duration, spread over two days. Each paper contains up to 100 multiple choice questions in one from five (best of five) format, where a candidate must choose the best answer from five possible answers, and 'n' from many format (where two choices are made from 10 options).

All questions have a clinical scenario and may include the results of investiga-tions and may be illustrated. The Part 2 Written papers are criterion referenced with a predetermined pass mark.

Since the Part 2 Written Examination was detached from the Part 2 Clinical Examination(PACES), there has been a fall in the pass rate.
